HEWI receives Hessian State Prize for Universal Design 2024
HEWI stands for innovative products that follow the principles of universal design and therefore perfectly combine functionality, aesthetics and accessibility. An outstanding example of this is the System 900 magnetic shower holder, which is characterised by its intuitive operation and pioneering technology.
For this innovative achievement, the solution has now been honoured with the Hessian State Prize for Universal Design 2024 - a significant recognition of the efforts to develop products that make everyday life easier and more comfortable for people of all abilities and ages.
HEWI magnetic shower holder
The new magnetic shower holder is much easier to use and, in the sense of universal design, an optimal product for everyone and especially for users with physical limitations. It also features simple and easy height adjustment thanks to a magnetic function that allows for sliding of the shower head holder, an intuitive one-hand operation, a 360° progressively hinged cone-shaped holder, and the omission of the widely used buttons and knobs. The shower head holder can therefore be used without effort and even by those with motor limitations. Wet hands no longer matter, as the traditional clamping mechanism has been replaced by the novel magnetic principle, thus eliminating the need to exert pressure when adjusting the shower holder.
The Hessian State Prize for Universal Design
The Hessian State Prize for Universal Design honours companies, start-ups, creative minds, architecture firms and many other players throughout Germany who develop innovative solutions to make life aesthetic, inclusive and sustainable. The entries are judged according to various criteria, including design quality, functionality, innovation and safety. The aim of the competition is to tackle global challenges with local, well thought-through and user-friendly solutions.
